A poem I wrote about a girl...

DECISION

By: Jack Beaudette

She put down her drink and her heart

  • And her mind became unfettered,

Then glanced at her soul the weaker part

  • The photo she never wanted to use.

Another days’ conclusion and he, useless,

  • Finds nothing of value within.

No light no intrigue, his soul wants to protest

  • The last flowers’ petal finally drowned.

A hole in his pocket he always tried to hide

  • Somehow now suddenly lay exposed.

He loosened his grip and his belief and cried,

  • Fates classical chef-d'oeuvre.

The hole was always there, he never believed,

  • His once enamored mind the enemy.

It was all a masquerade what he once had perceived,

  • The festivities were now revised.

As she walked home she slightly slipped on regret

  • Her heart swiftly shackled by decision.

Lost and stumbling through streets they tried to forget

  • Never to patch the hole or accept the photo.
